Weddings at Alana Estate

with The Gamekeeper

A wedding at Alana Estate combines the flavours of Martinborough, the vineyard, superb wines and cuisine tailored to your requirements.  Our chef oversees every detail of the food selection, and in conjunction with yourself, will tailor a menu which perfectly matches the wine, food and your tastes. A wedding amongst the vines is a very special occasion and with this in mind we have expert wedding consultants overseeing your day to ensure it is a complete success. This will be a wedding celebration for you and your guests to remember!

Our staff, Wedding Co-ordinators and wine makers have many years experience. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and professionalism when it comes to ‘Weddings at Alana’.

The Ceremony

Should you choose to have your wedding ceremony at Alana, we have a large vineyard offering many picturesque settings:

  • a large grassed area adjacent to the vines above the winery
  • an even larger grassed area on the lower level below the winery
  • or one of many locations among the vines or around the vineyard

We would love to show you around our vineyard or suggest offsite locations to help you choose the site appropriate to your needs.  Should the weather dictate, our Barrel Room or main function room can be used for the ceremony in wet weather.

The Celebration

Pre dinner drinks and Canapés - after the ceremony (whether on or off site) guests arrive at the courtyard to enjoy a glass of bubbly and canapés to celebrate your marriage.     

The Celebration meal

For weddings up to 40 people a dinner can be served and specifically tailored to the wines you choose.

Changes can be made to the menu to accommodate seasonal availability and personal requirements.  We would be delighted to offer advice on the menu and match with the current season’s vintages.

Drinks

Select from Alana Estate’s beverage list including Alana wines, non-alcoholic beverages & beers you wish to be served from a bar set up in the courtyard during the canapé hour. From the same list select which Alana wines and other beverages you wish to accompany the meal.

 Entertainment

The Barrel room or main restaurant if you are having a marquee, can be available for music and dancing. Alternatively, the courtyard can be used if the weather is kind.  We can make some recommendations for local musicians or you can arrange your own.

Dining Area

Our Dining Room can accommodate up to 40 guests.

For larger groups of between 40-120 guests, a marquee is erected on the paved area outside the Dining & Barrel rooms. For groups larger than 120, please contact us to discuss.

Timing

Access to the venue is from 4.00pm onwards. The Wedding Party and guests can then move to the dining and courtyard areas. Alternatively, the Wedding Party can have their photographs taken whilst the guests move to the winery for drinks. 

We can discuss the exact timing arrangements to suit your requirements. Our premises are licensed from 7am –11pm. The premises must be vacated by 11.30pm unless a special licence to extend the hours is purchased. Outside of the above hours special arrangements may be required.

 Photos

The vineyard, winery & garden areas offer numerous opportunities for photographs capturing the romance of a wedding amongst the vines.

 Other

Our wedding consultants are able to help you with selecting wedding celebrants, florists, photographers, transport, music, wedding cakes, hairdressers, wedding makeup, accommodation and local churches to compliment your style.

Costs

The cost of a wedding is very subjective.  There are so many variables and the choices you make for the ceremony and more importantly the celebration affect the price.

Our goal is to provide a wedding which is memorable for you and your guests. We have a fantastic site and facility, superb food and premium wines. We can offer advice to help guide you through the process so the celebration runs smoothly and seamlessly.

These prices are indicative. There are three main factors which can change the price

The top line is the number of total guests. There are 4 different scenarios.

What is included?

The Food    Menus start from $75 per head for seated dining, which includes canapes plus a 2 course meal with coffees and teas.

The Hireage                This includes the tables covered with beautiful white linen and with the head table surrounded by a skirt.

Crisp white linen napkins, padded chairs or rustic wooden chairs, cutlery, simple white china and high quality glassware portray a picture of simple elegance.  There are many other extras and these can be discussed prior to your wedding.

The Marquee             This is required for more than 40 guests and various options are available.  These can be discussed with you at time of booking.

Staff Costs                  Bar and waiting staff are included in your menu and beverage price.

What is Additional?

Beverages and Wine

Beverages and wine are charged on consumption.

We have a selection of Alana Estate wines. All still wines are made at our vineyard. We also have some top quality Bubbly, beer and soft drinks available for you to purchase.
